Why intelligent technologies?
Intelligent technologies, such as fuzzy logic and neural networks, have
long since emerged from the ivory towers of science to the commercial
benefit of many companies. In a time of ever more complex operations and
tighter resources conventional methods are all too often not enough to
maintain a competitive advantage. The technology race has accelerated
its pace and impacts globally. This has led to increasing competitiveness,
with many companies having seen themselves marooned. Intelligent technologies
can be applied to the efficient solution of problems in many industrial
areas. Both fuzzy technologies as well as neural networks are well proven

What is data mining?
Data mining comprises the extraction of knowledge and information from
large sets of data. Today's company databases put huge amounts of data
at our disposal - something which intelligent technologies based data
mining can make use of.
What are neural networks?
Artificial neural networks are modeled on the mathematical representation
of the human brain. They offer computers capabilities such as learning
and pattern recognition, processes used in solving complex tasks.
What is fuzzy logic?
Fuzzy logic has come to be ever more successful in the solving of complex

We are involved in a series of international projects to facilitate the
effective exchange of information. Examples of this include the ERUDIT
Network of Excellence, the Network
on Intelligent Technologies for Smart Adaptive Systems EUNITE and
various European projects for the development of innovative solutions
using intelligent technologies.
Since 1991 ELITE
acts as a European foundation which integrates the scientific potential
of institutions in Europe in fuzzy technology. Under guidance of Prof.
em. H.-J. Zimmermann of the RWTH Aachen, ELITE uses the experience and
the results of its partners in industrial and scientific projects.
